Description:
In 1966 Ford finished 1-2-3 at the 1966 24hrs of LeMans. At the last pit stop, three Mark IIs were in front. Ken Miles and Denny Hulme were leading, followed by Bruce McLaren and Chris Amon in the same lap. Ronnie Bucknum and Dick Hutcherson were third, but twelve laps behind.

At the finish, Ford decided to stage publicity photo between Miles/Hulme and McLaren/Amon with the No. 5 following, too. According to witnesses, McLaren left a small margin to Miles and it was expected than Miles/Hulme will be declared winner after the examination of the photo finish. But the ACO declared the McLaren/Amon car had won the race, having covered more distance in 24 hours, as it had started the race several places behind the Miles/Hulme car.

This particular diecast is modeled after the #6 car that Andretti and Bianchi raced that day. However, their car didn't do quite as well as some of the other MKIIs. Andretti/Bianchi only raced 97 laps that day and didn't end up finishing the race. However, this car is still one for the history books!

This highly detailed car features all of the details an experienced collector would except from a 1/12th scale GMP piece. From bumper to bumper, this car is authentic to every last detail. Taking out the front pins to lift up the body panel will reveal a spare tire strapped in with soft belts and photoetched buckles. An opening gas filler cap catches your eye as you pass back to the opening doors, which open to a whole world of intricate touches. Soft carpeting lines the floor underneath the soft seats and detailed gauges line the dash. The opening rear engine cover reveals the fully wired & plumbed power behind this road machine. Don't miss your chance to own this beauty!
