For the 2008 season NASCAR's most popular driver, Dale Earnhardt, Jr., parted ways with DEI and took a position on the Hendrick Motorsports team to race alongside champions Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson. Jr. also left behind his long-time sponsor, Budweiser, to partner with National Guard and Amp energy drink.
This collectible was built to celebrate Jr's first win in his new 2008 ride at Michigan International Speedway. He snapped his seventy-six race winless streak with a dramatic victory, running out of gas as a caution ended the green-white-checkered. Junior coasted around to hold off Kasey Kahne.
