For the 2008 season NASCAR's most popular driver, Dale Earnhardt, Jr., parted ways with DEI and took a position on the Hendrick Motorsports team to race alongside champions Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson. Jr. also left behind his long-time sponsor, Budweiser, to partner with National Guard and Amp energy drink. Dale Jr. drove the National Guard car for 17 races, including the first race of the season at Daytona and the final race at Homestead.
This particular scheme is the Salute The Troops paint job that ran at Charlotte on Memorial Day weekend, May 25th. The special scheme features several Salute the Troops logos.
