Description:
In it's very first time out, Ron Mancini drove this bumble-bee striped SS/EA 440 Dart to a new class record of 12.02 @118 mph. Later that same season, it ran consistently in the 11.60's at 120 mph. Chrysler engineer Tom Hoover personally built the car's powerful 440 wedge engine. Mancini drove it to the world record and second place overall in national points in 1968 - only to be edged out by another Dodge at the last race of the season.
The car was sponsored by the Greater Detroit Dodge Dealers, who knew they had a winner right from the get go. According to Mancini, "This car was unbeatable on a dry track and proved it all year!". Mancini himself set numerous records in his driving career with Mopar from 1967-1975.
This particular collectible was produced by Die-Cast Promotions (DCP) / Highway 61 EXCLUSIVELY for Mopar Performance Parts, using Highway 61's exceptionally detailed and beautifully accurate Dodge Dart tooling. They limited production to a mere 2500 pieces, ensuring that the value of this collectible will continue to climb as time goes on.
If you are a Mopar or classic drag racing collector, this is one of those cars that you must have as part of your treasured collection.
