Ton "Mongoo$e" McEwen started drag racing in 1953 and retired in 1992. He drove cars from 70 mph to 300 mph. He set many world records, was the first to run under seven seconds, was five-time AHRA World Champion and won many large races including Bakersfield 1972, Riverside 1966, the last race at Lions 1972, PRO at Tulsa in 1973 and the U.S. Nationals in 1978.
McEwen has driven every type of drag racing car, been hired as a test driver for Mickey Thompson, Ford Motor Co., Mopar, etc. He brought the first large advertiser into drag racing, Mattel Hot Wheels, which put the sport of drag racing on the map with millions of Mongoo$e and Snake toys sold all over the world!
