Racing legend Eddie Cheever Jr. founded Cheever Racing in 1997 with the mission to use his 30-plus years of experience in Formula One, sports cars and open-wheel racing to build a top-level motorsports organization in the United States.

Primarily competing in the IRL IndyCar Series, Cheever Racing has won five IndyCar Series races, including the coveted Indianapolis 500 in 1998. The team twice finished third in the IndyCar Series championship in 1997 and 2000, and won two Indy 500 Rookie-of-the-Year titles.

In 2006, Cheever Racing expands its participation in American motorsports by entering the Grand American Rolex Sports Car Series. This signifies the opening of a new chapter for Cheever Racing, allowing the company to diversify and build a stronger foothold as a leading American motorsports team.

Brian's Wish Foundation was establish in honor of Brian Hall, who was diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease) at the age of 33, and succumbed to it in May of 2002. Brian's final wish was to make the world more knowledgeable about ALS, a terminal disease, and the effects it has on the patient, family, caregivers and friends and therefore to help provide more interest and funding for research facilities to find a cure for this terrible disease.

Brian was a huge fan of Indy Car Racing, and specifically of Eddie Cheever. Shortly after Cheever's Indy 500 victory, Brian was able to personally meet him, and the two became friends. At the same time, Cheever became an advocate for the Foundation. The entire Indy Racing League followed suit and the foundation has now been embraced by the majority of teams, who continue to show their support via fundraisers such as this auction.
