Tom Cotter Biography:
Born in NYC, raised on Long Island as a car-crazy kid
Bought 1939 Ford Woody Wagon at 15 and 1953 Ford Wagon at 18; still owns both cars
Has worked in all segments of the automobile business, including: auto repair, parts sales, new and used car sales.
Became employed in the public relations industry in 1983 managing a NASCAR account
Humpy Wheeler offered him a job at Charlotte Motor Speedway, where he was employed as Director of Public Relations from 1985 – 1989
Opened Cotter Communications in 1989 with one employee and one NASCAR account – General Foods
Grew business into a number of areas, including public relations, marketing, event management, mobile marketing, athlete representation, merchandising and spokesperson training
Cotter Group eventually grew to 90 employees and was sold to Clear Channel Communications in 2000
Immediately following sale of business, bought a 289 Cobra in San Francisco and drove it across the United States with pal Peter Egan (read it on line at

Car collection grew to more than 40 cars, including 14 Woodies
Wrote first book – Holman-Moody, The Legendary Race Team – in 2000
Has written a series of books on barn-finding, including: The Cobra In The Barn, The Hemi In The Barn, The Vincent In The Barn and the soon to be released The Corvette In The Barn.
Has written two biographies: Dean Jeffries, 50 years of hot rods, racing and movies, and TV Tommy Ivo, Drag Racing's Master Showman
