A Letter to GoMotorBids.com Customers
You spoke... we listened!
We have heard from you that it is time to change how we calculate shipping costs. We agree and below are a few details that will take effect January 11th, 2010.
We're selling many smaller and lighter items these days as we enter new collectible categories. These items will be shipped at significantly reduced shipping charges effective in just a few days!
On January 11th, 2010, we will move to a shipping model that considers the weight of the package as the most important factor in calculating shipping costs for our customers. We are convinced that this is much fairer for us and our customers.
On each bid page, you will be able to see the current charges and what the charges will be on the opening day of September.
Please understand that we have not changed our shipping charges to you for over 2 years. During that time, USPS, FedEx, UPS, and DHL have all passed along price increase on at least two occasions. We have absorbed these increases at GoMotorBids.
Therefore, not all package and weights will experience price reductions. For example, an individual who orders a 1/12th scale car will see an increase that more accurately reflects the cost to ship a larger item. Packages in this weight range were being shipped at charges significantly under the competition on the internet.
Since 99% of everything sold at auction on GoMotorBids has no reserve pricing and starts at $1.00, shipping has to be a separate charge.
Furthermore, it is no exaggeration to tell you that we lose money on fully 1/4th of all items auctioned on GoMotorBids. Charging a competitive shipping price allows us to make a small margin on that charge.
It is my hope that this explains our position. I would be happy to discuss this with any of you or listen to any other concerns you have about our business.
Sincerely,
Patrick Rainey, President
