What type of offer can you expect?
As you’ve probably suspected, we buy collections with the full intent of piecing them out and reselling them. So we must buy at a price that allows us to continue to operate our business. Our offer will depend on several factors: the rarity of your collectibles, their condition, the condition of their original packaging, and the current demand for them.
We are as fair as we can be, and we can tell you that we have literally purchased tens-of-thousands of collectibles, and the sellers have always been satisfied. But if you aren’t happy with our offer, you can always say no, and there’ll be no hard feelings on our end.
Please be aware that if you are wanting top dollar for your collectibles, or what the “value guides” value them at, you’ll probably be better off attempting to sell your collection yourself. We won’t be able to give you the published values, as it won’t allow us to be profitable reselling them.
Additionally, you should be aware that the “value guides” are just that – a guide, and most of them are actually quite inflated (and it’s no wonder, as many of their value advisors are diecast shop owners, distributors, and manufacturers). These “guides” rarely reflect what the secondary market is truly willing to pay.
Are there any collectibles that GoMotorBids.com won’t purchase?
We’ll pretty much consider anything and everything, but there are a couple of things we tend to shy away from:
- NASCAR/NHRA Collections with a majority of 1/64th scale collectibles: We won’t purchase NASCAR or NHRA collections that primarily consist of 1/64th scale collectibles, because there simply is very little demand for them in the current marketplace. But if you have some 1/64 collectibles that are part of a bigger collection with larger scale cars, we will buy those as part of a take-all deal.
- Unboxed Collectibles: We won’t purchase collections where the majority of the items don’t include their original boxes. Mainly because the chance of the items being damaged or destroyed during shipping is too great, plus it severely hurts their resale value. However, if you only have a few items in your collection that don’t have boxes, don’t worry about it.
- Small Collections: It’s not that we won’t buy them; it’s just that if you have less than 25 pieces to sell, you’ll probably be better off selling them yourself. However, if you only have a few cars and still want us to give you an offer, we will.
